This half-hour spin off of the top rated THE COSBY SHOW, was the first ensemble situation comedy to immerse America in student life at a historically black college. Originally planned to be a spin-off to The Cosby Show, A Different World made its debut in 1987 and ended production in 1993. Starring Jasmine Guy (Whitley), Kadeem Hardison (Dwayne), Dawn Lewis (Jaleesa) and Lisa Bonet (Denise). A Different World was set at the historically black Hillman College and chronicled the struggles to make it through college.
The Emmy-nominated A Different World debuted as the #1 new show of the season, staying at #1 in its time period for the first five seasons of a six-season run, achieving the highest first-season household rating in the 1980s and 1990s.
Available November 8th from Ventura Entertainment Enterprises/Urbanworks, the 3-DVD set will include the 24 episodes from season 1 (575 mins), and will retail for $39.99.

How exciting. I would prefer the other seasons though. The show got a lot better when Denise left. Thanks for the heads up.

I was actually thinking the other night while looking at an episode why this show isn't already out on DVD. That and 227 but thats another story. So to echo the previous comment, thanks for the heads up. I can't wait.
